Role Overview
As Vice President of Software Engineering, you will define and lead the full software strategy powering eleQtron’s quantum computing systems.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for building and scaling the entire software organisation, including firmware, control systems, embedded software, and cloud-based quantum execution platforms.
You will operate at the intersection of physics, hardware engineering, and advanced software systems, translating complex scientific requirements into scalable production-grade software architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Software Strategy & Leadership
- Define and own the end-to-end software strategy for quantum computing systems
Shape long-term architecture for control systems, embedded software, and cloud infrastructure
Partner with executive leadership to align software direction with company roadmap
Build and scale high-performing engineering teams across multiple disciplines
Architecture & Systems Development
- Lead design of full software stack for quantum control and execution
Oversee firmware, device communication layers, and real-time control systems
Develop compiler tools, runtime systems, and execution frameworks
Ensure scalable, secure, and high-reliability system delivery
Engineering Excellence
- Establish engineering standards across CI/CD, testing, and deployment
Build robust development processes for deep-tech environments
Drive performance, quality, and reliability across all software systems
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with quantum physicists, hardware engineers, and product teams
Translate scientific and experimental requirements into software architecture
Align software development with hardware milestones and research progress
Enable strong knowledge exchange across technical disciplines
Team & Culture Building
- Recruit, mentor, and scale global software engineering teams
Build a high-ownership, innovation-driven engineering culture
Support career development and leadership growth across teams
Foster collaboration in a multidisciplinary research environment
About You
You are an experienced senior engineering leader with a strong background in complex software systems and hardware integration.
You bring:
- 8+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years in leadership roles (VP / Director / Head of Engineering)
Strong experience in embedded systems, firmware, or real-time software
Background in high-performance computing, distributed systems, or control systems
Experience with hardware-software integration environments
Proven ability to lead and scale engineering organisations
Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills
Experience delivering complex technical systems from concept to production
Bonus Experience (Highly Valued)
- Quantum computing or quantum programming systems
FPGA-based control systems or signal processing
Microwave or precision control hardware environments
Scientific computing or research-driven engineering teams
Deep-tech startup or fast-scaling innovation environments

Summary
This role is designed for a senior technology leader who wants to:
- Build and scale a global software organisation in quantum computing
