About the Role

This position sits within the CRYENGINE Tools team at Crytek’s modern Frankfurt office. As a Senior Tools Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of advanced production tools that support game development teams and enhance the capabilities of the CRYENGINE Sandbox Editor.

You will work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where engineers, artists, and designers jointly shape workflows, improve content creation pipelines, and ensure the engine remains efficient, stable, and scalable.

The role offers both technical depth and creative influence, allowing you to directly impact the tools used in AAA game development.

Key Responsibilities

Tools Development & Engineering

  • Design and implement development tools across cloud and on-premise environments
    Contribute to the evolution of the CRYENGINE Sandbox Editor
    Build systems that improve content creation efficiency and production quality
    Support low-level systems maintenance and performance improvements

Collaboration & Design

  • Work closely with artists, designers, and engineers to define tool requirements
    Translate production needs into scalable technical solutions
    Promote best practices in tool design and usability

Performance & Reliability

  • Improve system stability, reliability, and performance across toolchains
    Use profiling tools to analyse and optimise runtime behaviour
    Encourage adoption of modern technologies and engineering practices

About You

You are an experienced software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and building tools that empower creative teams.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years in professional software development
    Strong proficiency in C# and C++
    Experience with distributed systems and microservices
    Familiarity with Kubernetes-based deployment and configuration
    UI development experience (Qt, HTML-based frameworks, or similar)
    Experience using performance profiling tools
    Willingness to relocate to Frankfurt, Germany

Nice to Have

  • Experience with real-time or multithreaded systems
    Knowledge of WPF, React (TSX), or similar UI frameworks
    Programming exposure to Python, Rust, Go, or TypeScript
    Experience with game engines (CRYENGINE preferred)
    Background in high-performance or graphics-intensive systems
