Quantum-Systems GmbH is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager to strengthen its growing Finance team in Gilching, Germany. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of complex international tax operations within a fast-scaling technology business specialising in next-generation drone and aerial intelligence solutions.

The company develops advanced eVTOL drone systems used across defence, public safety, mapping, and commercial operations throughout Europe. As the business continues expanding internationally, the tax function plays a critical role in supporting sustainable growth, compliance, and strategic acquisitions.

This position can be performed on a full-time basis or part-time from 20 hours per week onwards.

Your Role

As part of the Finance division, you will oversee tax matters across multiple international entities while collaborating closely with Finance, Legal, M&A, and Operations teams. You will also support the company’s acquisition activities and help shape scalable tax processes for future expansion.

This role combines strategic planning with operational execution and offers strong exposure to international tax structures, transfer pricing, VAT optimisation, and corporate transactions.

Key Responsibilities

International Tax Management

  • Act as the central contact for all group-wide tax matters
    Coordinate and review the work of external tax advisors in Germany and internationally
    Build efficient and scalable tax governance processes
    Monitor and assess tax risks across multiple jurisdictions
    Mergers, Acquisitions & Post-Merger Integration
    Support buy-side acquisitions from a tax perspective
    Participate in tax due diligence activities
    Evaluate transaction risks and advise on acquisition structures
    Lead tax integration activities following acquisitions
    Support implementation of compliant intercompany frameworks

Tax Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure accurate corporate tax, VAT, and international tax reporting
    Assist during audits and liaise with tax authorities
    Develop and enhance the company’s Tax Compliance Management System (Tax CMS)
    Create internal standards and governance procedures

VAT & Cross-Border Operations

  • Manage international VAT structures and indirect tax obligations
    Advise on import/export taxation, OSS/IOSS, and cross-border transactions
    Ensure ERP systems such as NetSuite correctly reflect tax processes
    Improve operational efficiency with Finance and Operations teams

Transfer Pricing & Intercompany Structures

  • Develop transfer pricing models and documentation
    Implement compliant intercompany charging structures
    Align transfer pricing with reporting and controlling processes

Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Legal, and M&A
    Translate complex tax matters into practical business solutions
    Deliver guidance and training to internal teams
    Contribute to scalable processes in a high-growth environment

Candidate Profile

The company is seeking a proactive and solution-focused professional with strong technical tax expertise and experience in international business environments.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Several years of experience in tax advisory or in-house tax functions
    Background in multinational or multi-entity organisations
    Strong understanding of German and international tax regulations
    Knowledge of VAT and international compliance requirements
    Experience supporting M&A transactions or restructuring projects
    Excellent communication skills in German and English
    Ability to independently manage projects and priorities

Advantageous Experience

  • Tax advisor qualification (Steuerberater) is beneficial but not mandatory
    Experience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite
    Knowledge of transfer pricing frameworks
    Familiarity with international supply chain taxation
